Karaoke with the E3 - DGB1KE3S

Karaoke with the E3 - DGB1KE3S

2014-08-13 by vinnie@...

I'm actually a new Yamaha dealer, and am at a loss as to how Karaoke might work with this system. Yes, I know it's not supported, but in simple terms, can one create a home karaoke system using this piano, which utilizes the DKC800 controller?

Adding a mic & speakers would have to be separate of course, but what we're wondering is if there's a way to input a MIDI signal to play the piano, perhaps a backing track as well to play through the on board speakers. I have discovered through this group that there are some latency issues with the text on screen that can be adjusted so that the words appear at the right time, and I was thankful for that nugget of information. However any advice to create a turn-key system (or something close to it) would be appreciated. Vince

i have no idea about using the built in controller for text but there
are programs for creating the CD+G Karaoke format which is used on stand
alone players and I believe can be played on a PC. you could use
Mid2PianoCD to make the audio encoded MIDI to put on the appropriate
channel and send this to the DKV. using MIDI would be much easier if
your piano supports MIDI input. i wrote a program for adding lyrics to
MIDI files that is easier to use than most.

I have a similar working setup at home, but since it is a try an error procedure please send me a direct email message and I'll try to explain it to you

You need:
  • a windows PC (laptop is fine)
  • an USB MIDI interface
  • Van Basco KAR player software
  • a stereo or home theater amplifier is desirable for the mic and the orchestral sounds
  • a second monitor or video screen is laso desirable (this 2 monitors setup is easier with a laptop)
Regards
