what do you mean by a memory disc? is this a flash drive of some type? if you disconnect (or turn off power) while the directory is being updated you can end up with an unreadable device. there is software that can restore a directory as long as nothing has been added to the drive. there are also companies that recover data from just about anything but it is usually expensive.
