Re: Spyder recognition problem.

Re: Spyder recognition problem.

2007-06-20 by John Malcolm

I recently had to rebuild a couple of PC's, (XP Pro) so I downloaded the
latest versions of Spyder2Pro, installed them etc. rebooted, plugged in
the Spyder and opened the software.

The software is not recognising the Spyder at the preferences dialogue
box. Tried plugging into different USB ports, different opening
sequences, reinstall of the software etc.

Any hints? Is there a preffered point in the software bootup that the
Spyder should be plugged in.? Any hints as to how I might check whether
the PC is "seeing" the Spyder apart from via Spyder2Pro?

Many thanks

If you installed the latest version of any Spyder2 product after having a previous version installed on the same machine under Windows, then the problem is that the totally new driver in the latest version is having issues with components of the older driver that were not successfully removed. If you start a support ticket at www.colorvision.com > support, they will send you the info you need to remove all remnents of the older driver, so that the newer one can function properly.

Many thanks David, will do.

It hadn't occurred to me that the Uninstall command for the previous version of Spyder didn't actually do the job it said it would.

I will have a word with support.

Cheers,

Under Windows it is almost impossible to eliminate all remnents of a USB driver, short of serious Registry Editing, and Microsoft frowns on software that does that...
