Cgs synth

I just finished constructing a bridechamber burst generator kit
and .......it doesn't work!
ok I haven't got too much knowledge of electronics, but this is what I
can tell about the unit
the internal osc works fine (cd40106) the speed pot and range swich
work.
for the rest nothing works, no triggers whatsoever.
can anyone tell me how to go about debugging this thing? what voltages
I should read where.
