Hi Just been musing over the option of two Cirklons to enter data the two tracks at the same time. Other than the not insignificant financial hit anyone see any problems with that? I was expecting to sync them via din or MTC from the PC. Ta

This is good thinking imho. Why settle for one when you can have two for twice the price? B) Though if the P3 control surface OS ever appears that may be a more cost effective way to do it. :)

I was expecting to sync them via din or MTC from the PC. I think you'll find it easier to switch between editing two tracks on one Cirklon, than to split things across two machines. All patterns have their own edit buffer, so there's no need to save or lose changes to each pattern as you exit edit mode. Some aspects of the edit mode state are lost when you switch tracks, such as which row and bar you were looking at, but that could be made track specific, to make rapid edit track changes slicker still. Thanks Colin. Its partly Paul Nagle's fault; he seems to have two P3's in his videos. although, he only ever seems to have one switched on. I appreciate this could be a performance thing. I just thought that it might speed the placement of notes to great interesting syncopation and allow the build up of 'chords' across multiple synths more rapidly. P3 control surface would do it, but also no doubt rapidly push up the prices for P3's All the best.

I appreciate this could be a performance thing. They were usually switched on I think. With the P3 I had 8 tracks and for the kind of over-the-top gratuitous noodling I needed 16. It also meant I could have my synths permanently allocated to tracks on a specific P3 which made it easier to remember how it all hang together. Cirklon currently has 32 tracks that you can allocate freely over 5 MIDI outputs, CV/Gate, USB. Not even I would need two Cirklons, especially as you can name instruments, patterns, tracks etc. and therefore keep track of where you are far easier. There's an awful lot of power/potential, more than with two P3s. > I just thought that it might speed the placement of notes to great interesting syncopation and allow the build up of 'chords' across multiple synths more rapidly. I find 32 tracks is definitely enough, the ideal number I found. Any more and I struggled to keep track of what was were, plus I was forever whizzing around the track pages to get to where I wanted to be. > P3 control surface would do it, but also no doubt rapidly push up the prices for P3's Indeedy. -- Paul --- http://www.softroom.co.uk http://www.youtube.com/WilyEPeyote

Thanks Paul I suppose like most synthnerds I have an underlying feeling that the more knobs there are the better! Why tweak one if you can tweak two at once. From what I've seen the Cirklon itself is richly featured. I'll probably be able to have a rethink on the need for two when my first is delivered! Until that time I'll try to keep the fantasies at bay.

At some point I'm planning to add remote editing of patterns via MIDI. When that's in, you should be able to edit one pattern via the main UI, while working on another via an iPad, or similar. I'm sort of waiting for an iPad control surface app that supports bi-directional NRPNs before I can do this. Best regards, Colin Fraser Sequentix Music Systems Ltd http://www.sequentix.com
