Shallow rack case?

Shallow rack case?

Does anybody out there know of a source for rack enclosures in 4u with less then
5.5"/150mm depth (for use in a SKB pop up)?

I've been on the lookout for a shallow rack enlosure for a long time.
Nobody seems to do them, so I'm either going to resort to having some
made, or alternatively might see if racks ears can be fitted to the
wider Hammond case that Chiel used for his P3.
I need some for projects other than the sequencer, such as a TP9090 I
have partially completed.

Cheers,

in fact, that's the exact reason i went with this case; so i could
easily bang together a pair of ears & hang it in a rack. also, it
made using Colin's original layout very easy.
and the 6 cm above the sloped panel could easily be removed or bent
around to make it a 4U rack size, as there's nothing beneath there.

UK source of Shallow rack cases

Hi all,
you can get shallow rack cases from Bryant Broadcast in the
UK. You can download their 19" rack catalogue (which has prices)
from their website:-

http://www.bryant-broadcast.co.uk/

(under catalogues)

Looking at it, they do rack cases from 100-250mm width in
black/natural anodised finish BUT it seems only up to 3U! However
it may be worth contacting them as they do manufacter these inhouse
and will do custom stuff.

Alternatively you could match a separate front panel with an
aluminium chasis case available from Hammond ..and bolt the two
together either via the front panel pots/switches, or via scews if
the pcb and psu are heavy. I have used this method to build an
Oakley Filtrex unit into a 2U 'case' I made froma Vero 2U front
panel and one of the Hammond chassis boxes mentioned.

hope this helps

cheers
steve
