Hi, I've got an Akai S1000 and I haven't been able to get any floppy disks to work with it. I bought new imation 2HD formatted floppy disks (1.44MB), should these work? If not, what ones should I buy? When I put the floppy disk in and click 'DISK' it comes up with: "?? TRYING ALTERNATIVE DISK DENSITY..." and then "!! UNREADABLE FORMAT !! or not formated" Can someone please help?

It's not a silly question. I've never had to use floppy disks until now so I don't really know what formatting means. OK then that'll be the problem. The disks will be
formatted for DOS so your akai won't understand
how to read them. You'll need to format them on
the akai but I no longer have an S1000 and don't
remember the procedure. Format will no doubt be
found by pressing the disk button. Sorry I can't
be of more help but have a look through the
manual as it describes how to do it there. Rob
