Akai S1000 / S1100 samplers

Hi All,

Merry Christmas and a gearful New Year!

I have an S1000!KB that I just bought.

When I switch it on it says" waiting for disc...SKIP"
This skip message disappears if I take the scsi card out, but the device is still unresponsive.
It doesnt react to any buttons or functions apart the program number dial,which I can turn up and down0-128. 
It also reacts to the disk button but loads nothing from floppy ,then displays ??trying alternative density.

Attempted to boot os4.4 that I bought from ebay on a floppy,but didnt read the disk.Tried with different floopy reader,same.

On program 1 there is a sinewave that I can play on the keyboard.When I play the sinewave, in the middle of the keyboard there is a key which if I press down, weird digital noise loop plays and the option button flashes

It didnt come with a floppy and it displays OS2.0 when it boots. Do you think it needs a floppy to boot?

I took it apart , reseated modules and connectors but still no joy.Hopefully someone can help.
