SDS V switches

SDS V switches

2019-04-08 by M.R.

Hi everyone;

I'm trying to revive my SDS V. Some of the cards have trouble switching between the four settings. The snare would be stuck on the "factory" preset, for example.

After moving them around it became clear that the switches are the problem. Some seem to be stuck "on" while others seem to be stuck "off".

Is there a way to make them functional again? Those are metal dome switches, btw. Or are there any replacements?

Thanks, Malte

I have that exact behaviour on my SDS-V hihat card. It's in my workshop
and I'm digging into the switching mechanism. It started acting wierd
and all presets lit up at the same time. Now it's stuck in factory mode.

There are three culprit ICs most likely to be the bad guys. If there is
no piggyback board on the cards it's quite easy to get to them.

In my case the mechanical switches are definitely the problem - not the 14013 or further down the line. Swapping switches cures the problem here - however I don't have any spares...

Re: [Simmons Drums] SDS V switches

2019-04-18 by Yves BERNARD

Hi,

I had the same issue with mine. I removed the cover of the switch and I put a drop of oil. Still, they work fine. I remember I also put 4 resistors on the switching circuit because when I tried to select a new preset, it didn't change. I can give you some more information about that. I noticed that the voltage on the switch was floating.
But, I have a question : does anyone know what is the factory preset for all the sound cards?

Thanks, Yves
