my sds9 has os v6.0

my sds9 has os v6.0

2017-05-01 by ewanuno@...

i was just doing some work on my sds9 and i realised that i have os v6.0

this seems to be newer than anything else i can find online.

v4.0 was the newest i could find.

luckily i have an eprom burner, so i've made a copy to share with the world.

i wanted to upload it to the files section but i don't have an "upload" button anymore.

here is a link to my google drive:

Thanks!

Does anyone know what the differences are between OS versions, and therefore what the benefits are?

Regards,

Gwyn

i have no idea what the difference is between versions though!

what i can tell you is that my sds9 with os v6.0 behaves exactly as the manual describes.
even down to being constantly in omni mode and needing midi to be enabled each time in switch it on.

i did try some of the "reserved for future use" settings, but i didn't find any with an obvious effect

if there was an update with those two things fixed i'd be chasing it to the ends of the earth!

i played with midi mapping a fair bit, but i didn't get around to messing with sysex yet.

there are a lot of changes from the v4 rom though, i ran them through a hex editor with a diff function and only about 40% of the code is the same. but there might just be minor changes and the rest has just been shuffled arround. i don't know anything about 6809 assembly so i haven't even bothered trying to decompile it.

I had a look through the code a couple of years ago when I found V6.0.  Not a huge number of changes, generally timing and such like, probably to make it more stable.

I wouldn't bother checking a 6809 disassembly, as the SDS9 uses an 8031 :-)

i obviously know even less about 8031 assembly!
must have mixed it up with the ensoniq mirage, which was the last synth whose schematics i had my nose in.

did you manage to dissasemble it?
it would be fantastic to have midi turn on at startup.
