Finally joined the Simmons Brethren - but Lo Tom Problem!

2016-01-02 by rogerclack@...

Hi,

It's been a year or so looking for the right kit, but I have finally got up together a kit for me and my son ;-)

I have an SDS9 Brain, rack and the white pads to go with the rack.

I am polishing up the shells at the moment. But the main problem seems to be the noise output of the CH6 LOW TOM, it lights up when hit but no sound?

I have swapped over leads etc and still nothing, the light seems pretty in tune with the hits and also comes on when the test sequences run through but again no sound is output.

The base drum needs a floor pedal so at the moment I am testing with the stick and again there is a light, but this time a small muffled beat is out put.

If I switch the cables and use the tom for Bass output it is louder.

So can any of you guys give me some tips on what is going wrong. I have done a factory reset to clear everything as I saw a similar problem with the Lo Tom and that seemed to clear it, but not on mine ;-(

Cheers

Nick

First of all put it into button-tap mode.  Then (with all level pots and mix level turned for maximum volume) trigger each channel and let us know what you get out of the mix output (through an amp) and what you get out of the headphones.

Hi,

the SDS-9 is famous for it's failures. Are you sure that the brain is
intact? It sounds like the mysterious problems are (sadly) typical SDS-9
issues...

I have none myself so I have not much help to offer, but I have read a
_lot_ of testimonies from owners of faulty SDS-9s. Hopefully some of
these guys are here to help.

Happy new 2016 hexaheads! :D
