Vintage Simmons Drums (UK) Users Group

Hi fellow hexaheads!

Looks like I might be getting myself a digital claptrap to complete the
trio in my drum corner. The odd thing is that it has the wrong eprom
inside. (Imagine that, someone felt a looped conga would be a brilliant
idea!!!)
Anyone here who has the original image and/or the ability to copy the
real deal? Wolfgang? Patrice?
I think my friendly tech can help me burn a new copy if I only get my
hands on the correct file.

happy to see that you become reasonable :)
Beware !? the SDX is watching you now ...
Actually you'llsee the Filter is well analog & not ridiculous compared to other ones. just a nice other colour.

I couldn't have access to it without opening one so if it's fine for Michael that would be definitely more easy ;)
If there's a problem I'll have a look in the Eproms bunch I have.

Otherwise are you ok ? everything's fine ?

Hi,

I'm sitting here with a digital claptrap now. :) It's missing two caps
(which I think I have spares for at home) and the correct prom. My
"doctor" has offered to burn a new and I received the image from Michael
so I think that'll get sorted.

No SDX for me though! :D Everything OK!

Hi group,

now I've replaced two missing knob caps, repaired a broken off pot
(audio in) and replaced the eprom with a new one. My "doc" brunt one for
me from the file I got here (thanks M!).

Just a Q to digital Clap trap owners:

If I listen to the clean clap signal without any noise. Is it supposed
to have that much tone? I was expecting a "clappier" sound. The eprom
was burnt without problems according to the program and there sure is a
sound that sounds "clappy", but I'd call it more "finger snappy".

I don't know if this made any sense, but if you have a digital claptrap
you might get what I mean... I hope. :>

Hi Jesper,

From what I remember of my Digital Clap Trap, the actual clap sample
was very short and like a loud "clack" sound if I tried to pronounce it
in English. I much prefer the sound of the analogue version!

Normally it is a chain of clap attack phases. If it is too high, it might
sound like fingersnaps or clicks. Could you send me a sound sample (decay
full on)?

Hi Chris and the rest,

thanks for your reply. It sure sounds "clack" on lower pitch settings
and shorter decay. I'm not saying I hate it, but I sure prefer my two
analogue ones.
At higher pitch and longer decay it's more in the region of E-H Space
Drum and/or Korg MS-10 effect sounds with a clear LFO-ring to the tone.
