SDS V - Card won't change settings

Hi Guys,

I have an SDS V & recently both of my Tom cards are refusing to change from the factory settings.

Is there a easy fix for this?

Does anyone know what will have caused it?

Hi Matt,

my hihat card started to behave like that. I asked here and checked the
schematics too. Everything points towards a faulty switch circuit (i e
the electronics behind the button pressing).

I haven't got around to fixing it 'cause I had no replacement for the
suspicious IC and then other things got in the way.

So, "easy fix", probably not that hard for someone who knows electronics
and the hot side of the soldering iron, but not "easy" if you mean a
cheap "workaround".

Hello Matt,

this is a fault of the 4013 flipflop (IC1) on the card. I had this fault many times here in my shop, and I think it is caused by age somehow. The LED of PRG 2 - 4 will light while you push and hold their buttons, but if you let the buttons go, only PRG 1 will stay, right?

You have to solder a 100k resistor between pin 3 and 7 and then it should work like a charm. Don't replace IC1.

It generally is caused by a failure of one of the following

IC1 (CD4013)
IC2 (CD4556)
IC3 (CD4011)

Easy fix if you do service work otherwise take it to someone who knows
what they are doing
