Making EPROMs for Drumtraks with my EPB?

Making EPROMs for Drumtraks with my EPB?

2014-02-27 by <gushi1@...>

Hi guys.

I recently acquired a SCI Drumtraks. My thinking was that I would be able to use my Simmons EPB to make my own EPROMs.

Can anyone give me any advice on doing this? I've had my EPB for years but I've never had a chance to use it. Are there any good resources online for this kind of thing? Info seems pretty scarce.

Also, can I fit zif sockets into my Drumtraks? I've had a look in there and there doesn't seem to be a lot of room even if using the aries low profile ones. Is it a case of fitting zifs in certain positions but not in others?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

Simmons uses the Linear Format for EPROMs, which is not compatible with your Drumtraks.
You would need an Oberheim Prommer (can do both and swap as well) or a PC with a program to change this.

Thanks Thomas.

So the EPB was only good for Simmons products then? (SDS7, SDS9, SDS1?). I have two SDS7's (both not working) and and SDS9 so I think I'll hold onto the EPB for now.

I'm currently using a Mac, could you recommend a Prommer and a suitable program?

Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris,

for swapping of the two EPROM versions I use my Oberheim Prommer.
And for the others I use a very old PC Laptop to archive EPROMs (I'm on Mac usually, too).

If you're looking for any sound EPROMs I can make some for you if you want for a small fee.
I have a huge collection of drum machines aso.

Best,

Thomas

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
