Extra Trixer input

Extra Trixer input

2013-12-17 by jesper

Hi list,

earlier this year I bought a cheap Trixer mostly because my kids missed
the Seabro brain that I'd moved into my studio. I left the Seabro set
was without a brain...
Anyway, today I was thinking about the cheesy reverb of the Trixer and
wanted to examine the back for external inputs to the effect. I only
found an effect loop that won't help much... until... At the bottom,
beside the midi sockets is an extra socket. I can't see this on any
online pictures.
Guess what I'm thinking... I haven't tested, but do any of you know of
any other use this standard 6,3 mm socket might be used for? Were there
a list of aftermarket or factory mods offered at the time?

Hi Jesper ,
would you have any pic of it ?

I think everything's possible with Dave.
He would (& did) operate many mods  that people would ask for...

Patrice.

Found out it's not for audio in... (tested it, with care). No picture to
show (yet) and haven't checked the inside either.

This is probably the "Trixer 2" upgrade.  My "Trixer" had the extra socket (unlabelled) and when I checked, it had all the other features of the Trixer 2.  My "Trixer 2" has this socket properly labelled.

It was a factory upgrade, you'd send the unit back to Simmons, they'd do the upgrade and send it back to you,  Upgraded software and features...most of which I can't remember at the moment but will try to dig the information out.

It's a footswitch socket for remote up/down switching of kits

Other details of the Trixer 1 -> 2 upgrade...

Number of factory preset kits increased from 4 to 8

10 user programmable kits

Each of the 10 user kits can use any of the 48 drum sounds (or sound cards)

Tuning for each of the 6 drums in the user kits is programmable

Reverb type programmable for all kits

Separate set of MIDI notes and channels can be programmed for factory kits 1-8 and all user/card kits

Individual channel output mod is separately available (but I've never seen one with this "special" mod)
