Vintage Simmons Drums (UK) Users Group

I imagine it was Daniel Miller's influence at that time, but imho the
TR808 and SDSV combo used on A Broken Frame resulted in the definitive
electronic drum sound. That album, "From the Tea Rooms of Mars...", and
those beautiful SDS3 stabs in "Fade to Grey" are the main reasons I fell
in love with the Simmons drum sound.

For me the love of Simmons began with a Canadian band named "Saga" and the radio hit "Wind Him Up" on the album "Worlds Apart" back in 81.

did you know that Steve Negus, Saga's drummer did the Simmons distribution in Canada? And by the way: If someone want's to build his own briefcase: http://blog.simmonsmuseum.com/?p=1117

I never did get to meet Steve in person, but I bought my SDSV mk1 kit from him through Long & McQuade. It was the first yellow Simmons kit in Canada (if that's worth anything lol..)
I also know and worked with a fellow who was Tour Manager for SAGA at the time, and also know the LD that did their shows. Nice, very down to earth people.
A very good and under-rated band.... fantastic musicians.
