Vintage Simmons Drums (UK) Users Group

Hi Group,

hope you are all well.

I've been lucky enough to acquire a 'Simmons Trixer' from ebay. I really love this digital machine (despite being an Analog geek), but I have a couple problems. The machine is a little noisy, with random clicks and also an annoying 'hum' too.

Most worrying though- there is a fault with the reverb, where the sound tends to degrade into digital noise after about 20 minutes of use..:(

So, does anyone here have any advice or experience on how to fix these faults?

Also, I noticed on ebay that someone in America was selling a 'Trixer II'. It looks identical to mine, but with a slightly different graphic.

I know it's a long shot, but - Does anyone in this grouphave a ROM Scan from the 'Trixer II'?

I'd quite like to burn some new ROMs and add some different kits to the machine.

Dave - I'd suggest you check out the power supply section, especially the large electrolytic capacitors as they may have dried out. My Trixer has no hum at all so I don't think it's "usual" for a machine to hum.

Not sure about the reverb - have you reseated the reverb section ROM chips?

I've also got a Trixer II so will dump the ROMs when I next get to it, but as far as I remember it has the same Simmons sound ROM as the original Trixer.
