Replacement potentiometers

Replacement potentiometers

2013-02-17 by philmurr

Hi all,

Does anyone know where you can get replacement potentiometers for the SDS7/8/9 as I've a few with broken shafts. I've looked in the usual places but can't get a match.

Thanks, Phil.

Check with Patrice - he offered me some in a trade. Don't know which
models he has though... I know I sourced a few for my SDS-1's a few
years ago without problems. Have you checked good electronics suppliers?

When trying to maintain old electronic gear finding parts can be a real pain. Most of the generic ic's, resistors etc are readily available from the usual retail component outlets. Sometimes things like specialty ic's, switches, pots and the like were either supplied to the manufacturer under special order or the parts are long out of production. This does not mean they can't be sourced. I research the component required, then go on the hunt and look at current manufacturers and see if they have a suitable replacement. If this proves futile, I then hit the websites of electronic component brokers (many are based in China) and see if any of them can find what I need. Good ones have the right connections and can find what you are looking for. Downside is you usually need to purchase a minimum number of the item. This is usually not a problem as you can check with others in say, this group, to see if anyone else is interested in getting some. This covers any cost and leaves everyone in a "win - win" situation. I have yet to not find ANY obsolete component this way.

Yes checked all the usual electronic suppliers without success. I'll start looking further afield...

I'm also in touch with Patrice so hopefully he may have some spares.

Thanks all.

Not sure if this was one of your "usual places" but I managed to get some from vintage planet.nl for my SDS7, about a year or two ago. It looks like the site is being re-built and they haven't got to 'S' yet. Might be worth a try?

Senso is great (but can be a bit grumpy unless you know exactly what you
want). :)

Had a reply from Senso - none in stock.

Anyway good news, got some from TME, arrived yesterday so I'll be mostly fixing things tomorrow :)
