Hello. I have a set of Simmons SDS8 pads with triggering problems (the output trigger signal is very low for all of them). I think i have to replace their piezo. Where can I find some infos about disassembling these pads? Thanks in advance.

unfortunately the backside shells are stapled to the plywood surface. So carefully remove the staples underneath the rubber edge and remove the shell. Then you can access and change the piezzo. Those SDS8 and SDS7 MarkI pads are not constructed for repairs like this :-| --- In Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com, "paolobarre" <paolobarre@...> wrote:

Well, thanks for the answers. I've tried to trigger a Simmons SDS 1000, a Pearl DrumX and an Alesis DM 5. Always the same result: weak trigger signal. With other pads (SDS9 Pads, Pearl DrumX, and Roland PD-31) it doesn't happens, there is a stronger trigger signal. --- In Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com, "WT" <waveterm@...> wrote:

I think the techs know better, but since all the pads are as weak I seem to remember that there are resistors inside to limit the trigger pulse. Await specific answers from those who know, but in theory you could remove these for more *oumph!* but on the other hand. If the pads end up with an original SDS-8 one day you might have trouble. There are often reasons for such alterations. :) -- electronically yours, jesper - -- --- ---- ----- ---- --- -- - www.electronic-obsession.se

i always kind of assumed all the pads were ' the same ' inside as far as the piezo thingy goes... i have some SDS800 pads that trigger it, an SDS1000 and an SDSV just about the same... did the innards change a lot over time? is it an XLR / 1/4" issue some how? z NEW ALLIANCE EAST!!!! -------------------------------------- New Alliance East - Mastering New Alliance East - Facebook X :::: B :::: S ________________________________
