SDS 9 - dead channel

SDS 9 - dead channel

2012-04-17 by Jonathan

Hi,
I bought these over 2 years ago and have only now been able to set them up properly due to our protracted house move.

Anyway, they worked fine on the few occasions I explored them when I got them, but now I find that channel 4 is not making any sound. The trigger LED flashes & I have swapped leads & pads and this points to the brain.

Can anyone please help me on any common(?) faults or how I go about diagnosing the problem? I have a multimeter & a very basic grasp of electronics.

Many thanks
Jonathan

The mystery continues - when practicing last night, all channels worked. It definitely wasn't working, even swapping leads & pads. If I hadn't gone through that procedure, I would think I had imagined it wasn't working.
Whilst I can now enjoy the full set, I'm worried that it may disappear again.....
Cheers
Jonathan

I'd start by opening it up, checking for visual signs of flaws: loose
wires, burnt components, cracks, shorts (loose screws anyone?) etc.

Next step is to check if the channel is powered properly and if the
trigger signal reaches the card/part of the card.

Let us know! :)
