Weird... An old Ludwigstand came with my SDS-8 pads and I've used that for
the SDS-1s too without problem...

Keep searching. I guess drum makers are like synth makers; why follow a
standard when you can create your own?! ;)

Assuming that the size of the mounting collar for the SDS-1 is the same as other Simmons pads, there should be plenty of choices that will fit.

I have SDS8, SDS7, and SDX pads. I've used them with tom mounting arms from Ludwig, Slingerland, and Pearl,

I've just tried it on a Pearl tom arm and although very snug, it fits.
I'll order one of those. I did some digging on the web and I believe
that the arm is 7/8" in diameter. I now just need to measure the rack
for the end fitting.

Thanks for the help.

Phil,
When Simmons put out the SDS-5 in '81 the standard they followed was
Pearls. Almost all Simmons pads will fit pearl mounts. I say 'almost' to cover my
ass because I'm sure Jesper or Patrice are gonna dig up from their
collections some Dave Simmons design that has the Musicaid name on it that uses all
violin parts or something.

So then, solved! :) I had some Tama pads that had some crappy special design
that didn't fit on anything else... BAAAAD!

Oh, you mean the Simmons/Stradivarius collaboration?! ;)

Well, I've only had a few Music Aid things and they live either with Lasse
or in NY these days. Cannot remember who bought them, but it was SDS-V cards
anyway...
