SDS9 Potentiometers

Hi is there anyone here in the Group that knows where I can find some
replacement Pots? They are EGEN 59511-100k Linear. I have broken two
of them. If anyone has information Please Post. Thanks.

SDS9 Potentiometers

2012-11-26 by realmsteel

Hello all.
I just joined the group.

I've got a SDS9 with a broken knob. The shaft broke off right at the base.
I went to a surplus electronics place and bought a few different pots hoping to swap parts, but to no avail.
They didn't have any 100k pots near the size needed.
I bought some that had different values, the parts didn't interchange with the factory pots.

Does anyone know of a supplier and part number where I can order a pot that will fit the space?

I ordered one from Digikey that I'm hoping will work, but if someone can offer a known good fit pot I can get in the US, I may order one of them.

Thanks,
Rich

Hi and welcome (again)!

When I bought my SDS-1's a bunch of years ago I was no soldering master
but I simply desoldered one pot and brought it with me to a good store
(in that case Elfa here in Sweden) and returned with what I needed (I
think I had two broken pots). Browsing for the right dimensions can be a
b*tch but there are good suppliers out there of most things.

Good luck!

Hey Rich.
Let me know if the one from Digikey doesn't work. I have some.

When I bought mine it had a broken pot & a helpful chap on this forum -
Ed Rose - had a SDS9 that he was breaking & sold me a couple of pots &
knobs. Might be worth trawling the forum to pm him on the offchance
he's got any left. Was a couple of years ago though. He was also in the US.
Cheers
Jonathan

Thanks Ed.
I hope to get the ones(I ordered 2) in a couple days.
I ordered 2 in case I needed to modify one and screwed it up.
At $0.84 ea, I could just through them away and not sweat it.

I'm also thinking about replacing the battery, but need to do a little searching before starting a new thread.

I received the pots from Digikey.
I think they will work fine though a different knob will need o be used. That will be OK as I don't have the broken off knob anyway.
If it bothers me too much, I will replace all the old pots with new ones and get all matching knobs.

I put up a picture in an Album called Realm Steel.
I listed the part number in case anyone wants to do the same.

One thing I didn't do was cut the back so I could create a solder pin for the body. If it moves, I will just hot glue it.
