Re SIMMONS BOOK

Re SIMMONS BOOK

2010-04-24 by hexdrum

Hello all - I met with Bob Henrit to discuss the book and we agreed that we would try to get copyright issues/publishing sorted out and probably release the book as an "E" Book. This
would be the most cost effective way to get it "out there"
Stand-by for further information as soon as we get it organised.

Cool! Do get it out there. In this case I bet it will only make paper
copies even more rare and costly. :)

No, that was the losers who bought the rights to the name later.

Which got me thinking, wasn't Berlin quite a fan of the real SDS's when
that single was new? :)

recently removed from Ebay.co.uk? Together with the analogue clap trap
(mk1)?

Off topic - but I'm sure there was Simmons all over Berlin's stuff at that time - however "No More Words" was a Moroder production, with a Linndrum programmed by Arthur Barrow, with custom eproms burnt for the toms, sampled from a Simmons (not sure which model, probably SDSV). I know this because I've discussed it personally with Arthur Barrow, and also have had the sounds custom burnt for my own Linn courtesy of Forat Electronics in LA, who still have the Moroder/ Faltermeyer custom sounds in their library.

You can hear these Simmons toms, blown to Linndrum eproms, and Arthur Barrow guesting on bass and synth, on the song "1985 (GM '85 Remix)" on my band's Myspace page here: http://www.myspace.com/tychobraheaustralia

Cheers,
Ken.

Cool - not the real SDS-V then, but sampled into the Linn is at least
second best. :)
