I can't be sure, but those sure do look like red Simmons pads in this bootleg video of last night's Atoms for Peace gig in Oakland, CA. Nice!

Sure looks like it. The sound is so terribly distorted that it's 
impossible to hear what it's triggering.

As far as Morris and JD/NO goes all things points towards him having 
owned a SDS-IV back in the JD days but that he hated it... Not much info 
to be had more than that it was a two channel machine of Simmons 
manufacture that suffered from crosstalk. Sure sounds like a SDS-IV to 
me. :D

he had a synare 3 in joy division and simmons later. look at she's lost control on youtube. peter hook had a suitcase as well later.

I know, but I've read an interview about a two channel Simmons. So 
unless it's the SDS-200 (which seems unlikely when discussing early 
days) I still bet on SDS-IV.
