How stupid! Why use samples when you can have the real deal?

Yes!

There's the Simmons TMI too, cheaper and it only works from trig to midi,
not the other way around. But it works great (I have one).

Puritan way? - SImmons SDS-7

Enough EQ's so... ;)

Most real things do, and therefor most Simmonsstuff do too...

But to be honest, if you're into sample playing... why don't you get a newer
so called "state of the art" kit. Roland maybe? Ddrum?

I think the above view on it sound like asking about driving safety in a
group discussing the model T Ford... ;)

Well, thanks for your input.

I don't think it's 'stupid' however. I like the way the Simmons pads
look and feel so it makes perfect sense for me to use them. I feel
completely opposite about Roland kits.

I also plan to have a simmons brain as well, but I think for
recording purposes; I'll be using the samples I've created.

I'm still interested in everyone else's views on my idea.

OK then, the hexagonal pads are cool! =)

Then I would go with the Simmons TMI which converts trigs into midi. Then
you just need the proper midi equipment to receive the signals but any
decent sampler/sample player and/or computer with midi interface should be
able to do that...

Good luck!
