Beaterless Kick Trigger Pedal

Beaterless Kick Trigger Pedal

2009-11-26 by monzarottie

Hi gang,
I'm struggling to find much in the way of beaterless kick pedals that will trigger my SDSV. Seams the Fat Kat is the only thing out there? I want to place it pretty tight amongst my other gear and don't really want an inverted beater flailing about. Anyone have any reccomendations?

Many thanks

Hello
A Hansenfütz Pedal or an DW PADBOA could be used combined with a piezo Trigger. Haven't got these pedals nor have i ever played them, but the internetz showed them to me ;-).

Hi Roger ! Hope all is well & Happy Thanksgiving !!

I had the Fat Kat & really liked it especially as an emergency backup when I used to play e-drums live ( main rig ). The really great part was the fact that you could daisy chain it. I'm assuming you just don't like the springy feel to it ( although I didn't think it was that bad ). Can't think of anything right now, but I'll give it some thought.

Reminds me of this guy I saw on TV a long time ago. He patented a trigger suit of sorts complete with triggers installed in his boots. Kind of a great idea that is until you are thumping your way into the bathroom....

Why do you want a beatless kicktrigger?
I have a handsonic HPD15, and it can trigger the kick by a simple footswitch
trigger. Is that what you want??

Ah, no. Although Golden Earing was the first real concert I attended. They opened for Triumph. Nostalgic indeed.

I'm looking for the FatKat form factor so I can park the pedal next to my acoustic kick drum pedal. An inverted beater style pedal won't let me tuck it into this space as neatly. I remember the Shark pedal in '83? that was a similar form factor. Just curious if there is anything contemporary out there.

Re: [Simmons Drums] Beaterless Kick Trigger Pedal

2009-11-27 by monzarottie

Happy Thanksgiving to you too Roland!

The Kat is fine, but I think the action could be improved. I remember seeing an article on the web outlining how to modify it for a stiffer feel. Now I can't seem to find that. It appears that most e-drummers are looking for an actual pad.

BTW, did Kat stop making that pedal? Neither that or the HatKat are on their site. Hmmm.

Good hearing from you.

Wauwie,
my first concert as well
cesar is the reason I started playing them drums, and got me in electronic
percussion (and a education in Electronics did the rest I guess)

I know danney Carey uses 2 electronic kicktriggers as well, and as I seem
to remember, they are beaterless too, I'll have to look it up.

WOW ! Thanks for sharing that Berk !! I didn't check yet, but is this part of a DVD I should have??? That guitarist knows how to own the tone.

The trigger suit looks similar, but I'm not sure it's the same as what I saw.

Thanks again for sharing !!

I do not what you should have
In my memorie (which is not to good) this was a tv special 'bout the earring
done by the station Veronica, but I'm not completely certain.
The suit is now owned by another guy, the drummer of BZN, which is by far
the worst band in holland. I'm not gonna bore you with this story.

When I saw this tour first time, man really great., I really like the pads
also, the red plexicubes. Cesar and the earring are still touring (mainly
holland) but he is still in great shape, as a drummer and as a person.

Nice you like it
Berk
PS cesar told me that when Dennis Chambers was in Holland, when he (dennis)
met cesar shouted something like: "MAN, I know you , you're the dude from
RADAR LOVE, you were my inspiration and I really digged that" Can you imagine

Re: Betr: Re: [Simmons Drums] Beaterless Kick Trigger Pedal

2009-12-02 by Jeff Biegert

I fabricated a couple of "beaterless" kick pedals to use with a MTM/
SDS7 rig and a SDX back in the day. One is made from a thick mousepad
or wrist pad material, over a metal base with a piezo trigger
embedded in it going to an XLR jack. There's velcro affixed to the
bottom and that held it to a rug. I played my electronic kit standing
up and would just tap my foot to trigger the kick or whatever bizarre
sound was on there. I still have the device and would be happy to
share some photos if there is interest.

I'm definitely interested - let's see some pictures!
