My SDS 7 Has lost its memory

My SDS 7 Has lost its memory

2009-01-09 by thedinoferari

Hi forum members,
I just wonder if anyone has written down the parameter values of the
sds 7.
I think it would not take too long to reset and get the machine
working again as it has lost ALL the memory.
Thank you

Is there an SDS7 that has _not_ lost all of it's memory?

Somewhere on here is a great chart that was made for writing down the
settings. I use it, tho I had to update it to handle 2 more tom
channels. Kudos to the guy who created it!

Mine is fully loaded, but I guess it has few of the original sounds
anymore though if that's what you meant. :)

2009-01-12 by Patrice Jacquot

Hi Dino,

sorry to hear about the quite classical SDS7 problem...
I think it's already a pain to make the kits again, I imagine noone
(yet) had the courage to write down the settings in more...
I'm not sure neither that the same settings values give the same
results in each SDS7 .
I know that the same memory card in different units didn't give the
same sounds.

I guess it's already a data base anyway but I'm afraid that this
famous memory loss is a quite lonely path to face...

The only trick I could give , to gain a bit of time (& avoid more
frustration) would be to start by opening the filter (& the digital or
analog volumes.... )
before going on other settings.

Anyway, a few hours programming in perspective...

good luck
Patrice.

Re: [Simmons Drums] Re: My SDS 7 Has lost its memory

Hi iplay,
I know that when I got my first SDS7 brain the memory was lost too. I did find someone out there that had it written down. The thing is with this old technology all the SDS7 brains are NOT THE SAME. With this being said, I can send you the copy that I have of the sounds. BUT it will sounds different then it does on my brain. The sound that I got DIDN'T sound right AT ALL. But it was a good starting place. Once you learn how the brain works you can do some COOL things with it. This brain was really ahead of it's time. One thing that you mite want to check is if the Eproms are good. I had some that were bad or had lost it memory. To check it you can turn the Analog down and turn the Digital all the way up. If you hear nothing you have a Bad Eprom. You can talk to Michael Buchner he is the Go To Guy on Eproms. He has HELPED me a TON.
Let me know if this helps you at all and I can send you the sound paper that I have. Sorry to say,But you have A LOT of programming to do. Be sure to READ the Manual, it will help.
                                                                                      Haley Johnson
