MTM - tips & tricks?

MTM - tips & tricks?

2008-11-21 by jesper

Hi list,

finally I'm starting to get time to find out what this baby can do. From
what I've guessed it was meant to control the SDS-7 - right? But it
works as well with SDS-V, doesn't it? I know the trigger levels are
slightly different but otherwise?

Also, is there some cool hold function to allow the eighth channel to
control the foot switch for the Hihat in SDS-V? Just a thought...

The HiHat pedal cannot be controlled by the MTM and it cannot record
controller events. It can only record program change events of the
selector pad (this means you can change SDS7 programs via midi!).
The feature list says that pulse height and width of the output signal
can be controlled so you should achieve good trigger pulses for the SDSV

But that said the pedal should be controllable, with the right
connections/voltages. :)

Thanks for the info, I'll read through the manual and dig into the
features later this weekend. I've realised that despite the fact that I
have a bunch of other e-drum brains it's the V and 7 that will make best
use of the velocity controlled response.

Yes, sorry, you are right. Channel 8 can be run in "HiHat mode". As
SDS7 and V HiHat is technically the same, this should work with the
SDSV HiHat also

And before anyone sends warnings - I will be careful and read carefully
and or check voltages etc.

i have an mtm but find i get better midi to triggering of my sdsV and sds7 from my analogue solutions mt16. which is weird because its the greatest midi to trig module out there. but it works great with simmons stuff.

yes, the MTM has a slice delay when Midi used...
it was its reputation when it came out.
I use them anyway to trigg all our deary non midi modules from a
confortable surface ...

I've used the kadi outs of my Kenton Pro-4's this far but would love the
dynamics and "full force" of the MTM. I'll probably return with a review
later...

On the other hand, over midi you can just move the entire part a little
and there is no harm done... or even cut in the finished recording if
it's not to bad.
