I did indeed split the manual in two halves because Yahoo didn't allow the size of the full
manual and I didn't want to shrink it.
I did not rip of the cover.
I did remove the (added) page saying "simmonsmuseum.com" since it's not part of the
original manual. If you are identical to the person mentioned in the last page then the
source is still there, right?
So I guess you're the one who have scanned this manual then? It's impossible for me to
know, but of course if you indeed did this great job of scanning the manual then you
deserve to be credited. Great job.
But to be honest, there are so many files of vintage manuals floating around the net it's
quite impossble for anyone to know the ORIGINAL source of anything. And I really don't
find it a big deal. It's not like the one who scanned the manual owns the copyright or
anything. On the contrary, it might even be a good thing NOT to mention who scanned it,
since it could infringe on copyrights.
But anyways, sorry if you feel hurt. I just wanted to spread good information to other
Simmons users.

I wrote out a few of the settings on my SDS7 that I used alot. If my memory serves me correctly, they were factory settings. I don't remember tweaking them much. I wrote it out for my own use. If I'd known that everyone was going to be looking at them, I might have put it into a spreadsheet or something.
The sheet details vertically in groups of the five cards, bass snare tom1, tom2, tom3. Each block is a drum kit. Horizontally it is the 15 parameter settings. My writing didn't stay in the columns too well. Apparently I never learned to color in the lines as a child.

That's great! Thanks for uploading. This is very useful as I have
absolutely NO idea what the original settings on my SDS7 would sound
like. The damn machine always breaks down about 10 mins after power
up and never remembers any settings. This happens because everything
in it is so loose. What makes it worse is that I spent £300 getting
it midi'ed back in 1993 but this only made it more unreliable Lol!!!
Your sheet will at least allow me to try out a few of the near-as-
dammit factory sounds. If I get time I will put these into a .xls (as
you suggest) and re-post them into the newsgroup files.
BTW: The drug addled woman who sold it to me in 1992 claimed the SDS7
belonged to either the drummer out of Whitesnake or Def Leppard. She
couldn't remember which as she said she didn't care much for heavy
metal!

As far as I can tell, it is constantly reading from the RAM's.
Once running, if I disable the RAMS, the drum sounds go crazy!

come back to this project soon. What concerns me most are if I should interfere
with the vintage design.
With a new
CPU running things a complete new face plate could take the user experience to
a whole new level.
But cost
and the simple fact I ruin the value of the unit I’m pondering with the idea to
leave the panel as is and rather make an external midi and CV control unit.
For
prototyping without the need for soldering inside the SDS7 I’ve started looking
for some old 386/486 computers in hope I can cut of the pcb edge mail connector
on one of the inserted cards.
