919 GBP. That's cruel and vicious but also proves what many people says.
THe SDS-3 is a lot of drum synth in a cool package with "vintage",
"cult" and "classic" written all over it.

I sure got an energy boost to finally dig into mine. *sleep kids,
sleep... dad wants to solder*

But you who always complain about the riot shields sure must enjoy the
real pads more, no?!

I never grasped where you were going with the 909-comment though.

It's the world of modern collecting and modern history. A stradivarius
is still just a violin made by an italian with a visual handicap but
still far from a vintage Simmons unit price-wise...

Absolutely ! ;- )
I never use them because I've been lazy to adapt the wiring ... & I
suspect some potential crosstalk ...
the thing is I don't consider the SDSIII as playable drums...more like
choosy & HQ effects...
But that's just my point of view...& point of use for the moment...

I'm not saying the SDSIII isn't a great synths ...
for me it's a great one ! For the price we used to see...
if 900£ was the new rate, it suddenly wouldn't be so good ...

I guess... (the weird world I'm talking about...)

Yes but stradivarius were already exceptional & unique instruments &
are getting better with age ...
which isn't the case at all of our electronic instruments...
When they came out , they weren't so exceptional...

I guess they become exceptional now the new market is so poor...

again that's only my point of view...

A friend helped me to dig out brand new speakers so with a bit of fresh
foam I've soon refurbished all six of mine...

I can imagine that, especially as a "normal" drummer. Being a synth geek
I have the other view on the Simmons gear, the sonic/knob-twisting one...

The market _is_ crazy. People sometimes spend 2500 euros on a MiniMoog.
I have one, I can confirm that it's not worth that. :D

But as said, there is more than sound to this, more than collecting and
more than looks etc.

Cool ...

on what stand do you put them ?
the standard cymbal one isn't great ...

Yep, I don't devellop it yet but ...I look in that way too...
the SDSIII & a destructive bassline...

That's it ! & when you think of the final use...
So I guess,
as a buyer you have to determine if the gear you want will be used as
a center of your studio or just as spices here or there...
that should change the price you 'll put in it ...
