I wrote a long time ago about my sdsv head and how my snare channel does not
produce a snare sound at all. when I try to turn any knobs its like static
and note together. All my other channels work great.
In laymans turms,What do I tell the repare man. What are the exact parts I
need on that snare drum channel
to fix the problem. Maybe a blown circut ect. Thankyou Rick

p.s. I don't know what is involved in your family fued . When I want info
for anything, I want any and everyone to tell me all they know, the tricks of the
trade, any tactic that will help make what is needed at that time to make
better my work, make my work easier, save money on my work, not going blind into
any situation
at the mercy of the retailer . It doesn't matter whose right I will decide
that for myself. All I want you to know you guys on the other side of the
world I am as american as apply pie but my mom was born in Egypt. I am as white
as you can be with no trace of arabic culture .My mom is so are her sisters
who are all in their eighties. My mom was also miss Egypt in her past. Let
the governments be screwy and as for us ,I rarely answer the simmons gp. but
i do enjoy the info yhat is passed around that I understand about 1%

It _might_ be some voltage leak into the sound chain at some point, but
it's really hard to tell just from that description.

But, is it just when you turn the knobs that you experience static? If
so you probably need to change the potentiometers (under the knob
itself). No bid deal. But that is if it sounds OK with "hands off".

Perhaps a bit stupid, but is there any triggering happening??
if not maybe a dead pad (or is this too obvious)
Do you get any sound, or nothing at all??

to have and to hold... or not

2008-05-26 by jesper

Boys,

I have for many years beaten the crap out of a set of SDS-8 pads along
with an original SDS-V bass drum. Now I'm putting together a set of pads
with real/mesh skins and plan to sell the hexagons, especially since
it's just SDS-8's and being a "Simmons God (tm)" I focus on older units.
*haha*
But, my main concern/question is: Is it a bad idea to let the bass drum
go too? Maybe I'll get the idea one day to get a real SDS-V set and the
tom pads are both easier to ship and easier to come by one by one than
the bass drum. So, should I keep the bass drum "just in case"?
To use it together with the set I have now would be style murder. THe
plexiglass of the Pollards and the mahogny of the SDS-IV is OK together
in some weird way, but a heaxagon back spaceship with spurs below that
would looke strange indeed.

Re: [Simmons Drums] new item

2008-05-26 by Michael Buchner

Hello,
first of all: It does not matter what colour you are, what religion you practice or where you come from. For me, your information about the malfunction of your snare module is simply not enough. I can check or repair the module only if I have it in my shop.
The first steps you can check yourself are: What happens if you put the module into another slot? You only need a phillips screwdriver to unscrew the 4 scews of the module. May be, if the module is re-seated, it starts working properly. Watch for the small plastic piece sitting in the slot of the edge connector. Is this still there? Compare with other slots. Clean the edge connector! By the way: The edge connector is the small piece of the board sliding into the bus connector of the Simmons SDS V Rack. If the module is not working after all these tries, there are bad components on the card itself and it needs to be fixed. If you need the schematics to give to your repair shop, you can get these from me for FREE. I am sorry that I can't offer you more than this, it is a matter of the distance: I am located in Germany, Europe. Again: Sorry!!!!!!

See you soon

Michael (not god...)

Keep the spurs of the bass drum. They are hard to get. Sell the bassdrum without the spurs.

Exactly. Because I (nearly) have them all. This is going to be my
pension in 20 years

OK, point taken. The entire bass drum is in good nick too so I might
keep it after all. Maybe worth using when playing a keyboard too or a
cool way of re-triggering an envelope on a vintage patchable analogue...

What?! *disappointed* ;)

You can't imagine how many rude variations I've received offlist from
