SDS9 Repairs

SDS9 Repairs

2008-02-02 by swangler1

Anyone know how much it would cost & where to get an SDS9 module repaired in the Palm
Springs California area? I just sold one to a guy there & he said when he got it & turned it on,
there was a some kind of a squeal or hum that he couldn't get to go away. It worked fine
when I shipped it, but we need to figure something out.

Thanks for any help,
Scott

Hi Scott,

no idea about the repairs in this area...
but the fact is that it's often happening ...
I received 2 modules supposely sent in a good & new state & with some
transformers broken...probably in the shipping ...

If the hum is on the phones socket , Im' afraid it's normal ...all
SDS9 have this problem...
If there's more output concerned , then yes it needs some maintenance...

Hope that helps,
Good luck,
Patrice.

Patrice,
Thanks for the info.
What did it take for the ones that you got to be fixed?

Scott

Re: [Simmons Drums] SDS9 Repairs

it could be done by a friend who repairs TVs.
it was a very very thin lead disconnected in the transfo....
At the most, I would have had to change the transfo...
but I've been lucky & he could solder it again despiting the very
precise & delicate intervention...
in total it was maybe an hour of work includingopening & closing the
unit.

About the SDS9's phone socket hum nothing has been done...I don't use
the phones ...
Otherwise the phones circuit should be replaced as SImmons seems
having used a low quality one
(for a reason I don't remember)

Patrice.
