I have a question about Simmons pads. I have just purchased a full set of SDS7 pads off of ebay and was wondering wich brains are compatable with these pads? The have the XLR connections on the pad. Thank you.

The original SDS7 pads have a resistor soldered to the xlr. The sense of this resistor was to avoid crosstalk together with the SDS7s brain. So the trigger output signal may be too poor for some other brains. You can simply remove it, then it is compatible to all brains. The SDS7 pads are a little difficult to open: If you look at the sides, you'll find some staples under the rubber. Take care not to break the plastic while removing them. Michael

Those pads are compatable with all the brains. There are to types or connectors that all brains and pads use, 1/4 and XLR. You need a abapter or you can do what I did and get a XLR cable and cut off the male end. Reconnect a 1/4 connecter. On simmons and all the drums brains that I have seen looking at the XLR connector 1 is ground 2 is signal 3 is open.
Let me know if you need more.

Hi Dudes, just in case, remember that the MTM has connectors to adapt XLR either from SDSV & 7 ... & also jack plugs ...& could attack any type of drum brain... SDSV & SDS7's pads didn't have the same hot pin I think... hope that helps Patrice. Le 27 nov. 07 à 14:08, Haley Johnson a écrit : > Those pads are compatable with all the brains.
