We should stop that discussion before gettin' another off-topic bang. Anyone
interested in "how to repair ZI pads" (serious, no joke this time). Or: How
to build your own ZI pads ;-))
Cheers,
Michael

Im not sure what it takes to build your own, but check out the mandala
drum. Its pretty much a new age ZI pad. You can find videos on youtube
or the website is www.mandaladrum.com
I love my mandala.

Sometimes owners of SDXes worry about their pads dying away, but they still love the SDX and are glad to get possibilities to play it again in full effect. The mandala is simply another nice instrument, but not solving the pad problems of SDX owners. B.t.w.: The ZI pads have a better rubber surface than the "ordinary" pads and they have no crosstalk between each other. So one of my next projects is trying to build a converter, making it possible to play the other Simmons units with ZI pads.

I think I go nuts
The ZI pads for the SDX do have a piezotransducer on board don't they??
So with a simple device like a D4 or PM16 (Roland) you can trigger anything
you want that has midi on board ( or am I losing a point here)
Perhaps check the piai site

Good luck
Berk

No, they don't have a piezo, only the bass drum and as rim shot. They have a
printed coil and a carbon foil, contacting when being hit. Constructed with
materials like in the SDS7s Selector pad or in the silicon mallet. This is
the reason, why there is no crosstalk and no influence by loud bass-players.
The surface is a very soft rubber and has a good playing feel.

Well then my memory is wrong
I thought on my sdx all the pads had an extra jack connector on board for
the piezo, perhaps it was indeed only the snare, I'm not certain any more

Is it possuble to repair them??
I have 2 pads on my sillicon mallet misfunctioning
