Hi!

Not to be an arse, but as a moderator I'd like to keep the SD5K off the
Simmonslist since it's no real Simmons product. If we allow discussions of
this type matters about the real gear are easily lost in the chinese digital
crap bin...

I bet there's a list for electronic drummers in general. Check with them.

General vomiting and negative critics of it might be OK though. ;)

Wel I do agree
on the other hand
If someone starts on the chinese crapshitassholething
perhaps they learn about the real thing and they want the real thing
But I guess not
On the other hand there's nothing wrong with helping somebody out with a
small problem, with knowledge that we all have. i wish I had someone around
when I first started
But I agree to keep the SOMMINS sd5k a bit out of this forum
Perhaps start an simmons sd5k forum (??? that should do the trick)

Of course it's nice to help - a double pedal setup should be able to do the
trick I guess. Or simply add a midi sequencer to play every second hit.
*vicious I know*

Re: [Simmons Drums] Simmons SD5K Help w/ Double Bass

2006-12-21 by Gregory Geibel

Hello all...I've been following your discussions for a few weeks now, and wanted to add my thoughts. I recently went into Guitar Center looking for an electronic drum set and was directed to the 'new Simmons' set. Like everyone else, I was pretty excited to see Simmons back on the market. The manager was pretty anxious to get me to finance one immediately. I left the store to do a bit of homework...and found out what all of you have been talking about...it's a cheap knock-off and they took Simmons' name. I went back into the store and asked the manager some more questions, such as "who do I call if I have a problem with the drums?" He said, "Simmons." I said, "How is that possible...the company doesn't exist?" He just looked at me...and then he added (I couldn't believe he said this..."Well, since these don't come with a warranty, you'd buy ours for $80, and then we would fix any problems."

I walked out of the store.

Buyer beware. Stay away from the SD5K.

That warranty comments is worth saving - absolutely sad and hilarious at the
same time!

BTW, I'm on myspace now with my annoying stuff. No Simmons in these tracks,

Re: [Simmons Drums] Simmons SD5K Help w/ Double Bass

2006-12-21 by sublimicninja

I've been reading the frequent posts on the SD5K not actually being a
Simmons product...but it questions me that on the website (http://
www.simmonsdrums.net) it offers that drumset which you can buy
through guitar centre and musician's friend (mine, being through
musician's friend). So is it that this Simmons website is also a fake
or what?

And to further my original question (that is, if it is going to be
answered or not depending on if this is the right board to ask) I've
tried to center both pedals on the pad but still no luck. I realize
after reading some descriptions of it, it does say that the
sensitivity is only in the center. So now, my question is, should I
just go out and buy another pad or bend my pedal bar...
(I am sorry if this isn't the right board to talk about this on, I
just figured it was a Simmons Drum kit).

They've bought that domain too, hence the name...

I'm thinking of one of those pedals with two "foot areas" and one or two
hammer really close. Like this;
www.pulseonline.com/gibraltar/big9611DC-DB.jpg

But if that's not close enough I'm not sure I can help. But I'm not mainly a
drummer either...

Re: [Simmons Drums] Simmons SD5K Help w/ Double Bass

2006-12-22 by angeyoda

Hello,

I'm sorry you'd been deceived by this , you'll be quite a few ...
But it's also your right to complain of this matter of fact.

please refer to the messages 2431 where Dave Simmons is explaining
the situation, & 2450 about the warranty & the serious of the
product ; no comments.
Thanks to Gregory !
It's incredible what you can do in US with money & the law ...
But no, US laws don't rule the all World ...
well ...not yet ...

it's like they didn't only "borrowed" (bought ? ) the name but they
are about to deceive their clients when you read Gregory's history.

it's true that we're talking about Simmons drums over here & that
the SD5K is ABSOLUTELY NOT a Simmons ...
just a chinese kit with an "awkward" name !?!

your question is proving the cheapness of the kit .

Please tell everybody (on every forums you can ) that this cheap kit
isn't at all a SImmons. Just an insane business deception !

I guess it's a real advertising for guitar Centre or whatever...
But what a sad image they give .
quite commercially suicidal...it might work at first but soon or
late they should regret ...
Very very bad for their long term image ...

You always get what you deserve in the end.
Let's keep an eye on the future .

good luck,
Patrice.

Well I never thought of using a sequencer that way
But I did and it changed my life
my bandmembers love since I play EVERYTHING twice as fast ( having the sequencer
playing 16th notes)
and tight

Sorry, but nice joke

BERK!

yep...the website is fake too. notice that there is not company address or phone number? no way to contact them? it's only one page...and only one drum.

  that worried me...

I'm thinking of one of those pedals with two "foot areas" and one or two
hammer really close. Like this;
www.pulseonline.com/gibraltar/big9611DC-DB.jpg

But if that's not close enough I'm not sure I can help. But I'm not mainly a

Re: [Simmons Drums] Simmons SD5K Help w/ Double Bass

2006-12-27 by turbopro2002

I dunno. I wemnt to their website and when I click on 'Contact /
Support', I get a pop-up with a PO box address and several email links.

And in 'Warranty / Registration', there's the same PO box and I could
register my kit with a 1 year warranty. I didn't have to pay anything
extra for the warranty. The sales guy at Guitar Center offered me an
optional extended warranty, 3 years I think, but I didn't get it.
