There is a set of 10 eproms sounds for the sds-1 on eBay. It includes most of the collection of stock sounds. Has anyone ordered this set before or had any experience from the guy selling these? Just being cautious before i bid! thanks R

It's a woman selling these and the chips suck. Again, cheap laser copied Simmons lables. If they were just eproms, why does she need to put the Simmons label on them? A couple people I know have been burned by these cheap eproms fished out of old printers and had sound blown on them. Try to avoid at all costs. --- In Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com, "R. M. From earlier discussions it sounds like it's the way they are copied that's the problem. You don't get "cheap eproms", they're all pretty much made by the same fab and cost about the same. In any case, it doesn't make the slightest bit of difference what they were used for before. And - as Jesper says - they're always worth checking for crunchy goodness before erasing. One of my favourites is an EGA BIOS ROM... Gordon

Well, I finally got them. YES they were copies but done very well (bit for bit). The labeles are close copies of the originals but they are vinyl whereas I believe most of my original chips had both plastic and paper versions. The chips themselves are Intel and AMD brands (actually I don't think you CAN buy a "cheap" windowed eprom). Anyway... I'm happy with the purchase and I actually was only charged 4.95 for shipping on the whole lot. --- In Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com, gordon@... wrote: > > > It's a woman selling these and the chips suck. > > Again, cheap laser copied Simmons lables.
