Wrong list for that Q. NO! Offcourse not, not if it's the Simmons sound
you're after...

Welcome to the world of analogue sound. The knobs are part of the sound
chain. There are NO memories on these old units so it's NOT broken! Digital
machines have memories 'cause their knobs send messages, they aren't part of
the message... See what I mean? Some analogue kits have memories but then
they involve scanning the knob positions etc. AFAIK (but I may be wrong,
being a SDS-5 user) the SDS-9 is fully analogue...

If it's dull and weak, just try tweaking. It's often the problem. Analogue
bass drums often sound dull. But yes, offcourse it might be broken as well.

Hi Jesper & Jeff,
You_ can definitely memorise what you do with the SDS9 ; the Toms are
analog but the BassDrum, SnareDru & the Rim channel are some digital
eproms sounds ... You can normally save your kits.
Try to check your LITHIUM BATTERY, it could be that...If it's flat
you can't keep what you're saving when you turn off the brain...

PS; about the D4 it depends what you wanna do with it...It will be
more versatile than the SDS9 but a lot more "less analog" & so warm &
punchy, the SDS9 have some terrific ballsy TomTOm sounds !!!

Well how do I check the Lithium Battery? What do you mean if its
flat? I with see but I dont know how.

In fact, instead of checking, change it directly , it will be a good
way to know how old it is...The battery life span is around ten or
fifteen years...So it should be time !
Then, you will only know if your module has a problem or not !
To change it you need to open your SDS9 brain (powered off , of
course !!!), checking the type & finding it or the equivalent at the
shop...
Then when it's replaced you should be able to save your kits & your
settings .
