No really good idea unless you're in the US ready to ship to mr Lightner...

I'm curious to what the problem might be... My SDS-V is behaving strange
when choosing factory sound on the hihat card (I know, taboo to use factory
preset!). If I choose that 3-4 LEDs light up and I get a mix of all those
sounds! Cool feature, but after ten minutes or so it's "just" the chosen
preset left since the other drop off one after the other. I guess changed
buttons or maybe even some lousy IC on the inside would do the trick...

Is it something like this?!

That could possibly be some sort of conductive gunk on the board. The
CMOS chips used, particularly the demux and flip-flop mentioned by
Michael Buchner, are very sensitive.

I'd suggest giving the board a good clean with PCB cleaner (or even just
plain ordinary contact cleaner) and allowing it to dry thoroughly, first.

Gordon.

Hello.

I am in the US in Washington state so who is Mr Lightner. Would he be able
to go
thru my unit and replace any buttons that are defective and double check the
work that was done. I'm not sure if the buttons plastic is bad or the solder
part is bad but the comment was

cleaned up and checked all modules work.

all push button switches and caps need to be replaced.

This is what Leo said. My only concern would be being raked by someone I
don't know.
I absolutely believe in paying for a service, parts/labor. but not get
unwanted charges and wouldn't get my unit unless I pay.

Kevin Lightner is the man behind synthfool.com and is a very friendly and
knowledgable guy but he also has his price so check first... He's based in
California.

Another idea is to check for dead units on Ebay and rip parts - they surface
from time to time...

Hi,

http://www.synthfool.com/
If he can't fix it, it can't be fixed.

he would give the unit a major overhaul and when he returned it, it would be
like it was new.

Kevin isn't cheap, but he is the *BEST* tech in the US.

P.s. Tell him Paul Maddox said hi :-)
