What are these worth today? With 5 modules.

Re: [Simmons Drums] SDS 7

It depends on the buyer. I've seen a very clean 5 channel with selector and some custom programming go for $1600 on Ebay and another one go for $1000.  There are a number of things that go wrong with the sds7, so it would depend if those looming issues have been addressed.
Like a say though, it's a very niche market and it takes a lot of patience to match buyer and the machine.
Sorry for not having a concise answer for you.
Andy

Hi guys,
to complete the last answer I'd precise that I've seen ( & bought some) SDS7s going from 150$ to 1800$. The problem is that the price don't reflect the real price or real state of the machine. you can find some perfect shape 5 modules brain for 400$ and some worn out brains at 1000$...
Also you can find some seriously revised machines for 600$ sometimes... all depends who sells and at what time.
Sellers want to get the most of it , some buyers are naive... but can it define a real quote out of it ?
some sellers claim don't knowing nothing in electronic and it kind of justify the poor state brains arrive.
So I think it all depends of actual needs and/or honesty of the seller.  and needs or desire/naïvety of the buyer.
buying a Simmons is never simple in the end. So when you buy you have to be conscious of what you'll get and what use you'll have of it in the end. not easy before owning the machine.
Not mentioning about the known SDS7 issues...
When you sell you probably need to stay aware of that too...

be sure of the real state of the machine, it can work perfectly for while and getting some huge damages at the same time, breaking down 2 days later.   Have a look to the battery first and that greenish potential stuff on the legs of components and PCB...  That will define the work to do on it at first and then the price... One of the usual sds7's  issues.
Either you do the maintenance before and sell at a coherent price either you sell as is...  then...

only a personal point of view though,
good luck for your sale.

Could you give us a little more info about the SDS7 you have for sale?
Does everything work?
What modules are installed and what eproms are installed on them?
What does the display show when powered up?
Has the battery been replaced? If so, when?
Does the memory retain newly programmed settings after being powered down for a few hours?
Does the Incrementor spin freely or click when turned?
Do all potentiometers and switches respond as expected?
Does it come with pads? If so, what version? Color? Condition?
Does it come with a Selector Pad and its accompanying mounting bracket? If so, do all 16 positions work?
Does it come with a manual? If so, which version - photocopied or professionally printed and bound?
Does it come with cabling?
Does it come with hardware?
Does it come with a Memory Cassette? If so, does it work?
Does it come with any extra eproms? If so, which ones?
And, lastly, could you upload pictures?
Thanks in advance!
Ed

answers:

modules are snare, bass, 3 toms.

comes with power cord only

I have a selector pad, and its cable, but ive never been able to make it work.
probably something simple. i can probably get it fixed or fix it myself before i ship.

No memory cassette or other hardware sorry.

No user manual, sorry.

Everything works, yes. display, knobs, buttons.

Display shows as normally when turned on. works fine.

Retains newly programmed settings after being powered down, yes. Probably should replace the battery anyway, but as it is, it works.

Encoder clicks when turned.

I have 5 or 6 pads, 1 or 2 dont work. They are in pretty decent shape. Some are sds5 pads and the others are sds7.
I wasnt going to sell the pads but i will if the offer is good. obviously shipping will be more,.
