Great - time to go play with the SDS-2 then. ;)

I must say I'm impressed - do you play them too or are they just for show.

Beside programming, bidding, scanning and polishing I must admit that
there's hardly any time left

Take a lot of pictures and then sell the SDS-3 with profit! To me that is!

Maybe I should found a Simmons rental service as an additional business?

The SDS2, well, did you sell your body to get it?

@jesper:

Hi!

You must be kidding :-) I live in Germany and have a close look for equipment a couple of times every day on ebay but I haven't seen an SDS2 there for ages...
Congratulations from the heart! I hope you have good fun with the "2"!

Bye

Hm (... enviously crying rivers ...), was it a lucky punch or was it
declared as a "Simmons SDS2"? Was it before Ebay broke through the
magic barrier of 1000 members? Who was the former owner? Do you know
anything about its history?

Aargh. Congratulations.
I had been searching for months here in the Netherlands until I finally found an SDS8
which just happened to have been sold a day before. Luckily the buyer had no idea
how to tweak the knobs to an acceptible sound and sold it again including 5 pads and
a pearl drumrack with clamps and everyting. I just couldn't wait to get home and set
it all up. Finally a Simmons. Still need to have it fixed to get rid of the hum, but that
shouldn't be too hard I quess.
I combined it with a Pearl DRX1 kit and a Roland TD5 for the cymbals. Still searching
on the internet and in second hand shops but never before seen a bargain as Jesper's
SDS2. Where are all the old ladies that are supposed to have original Simmons gear in
the attic?

Hi Hauke!

Ebay.de is my second home. ;) I bought the SDS-2 circa two years ago and it
was a really crappy photo and not much info. Not even a word about if it was
working or not.
I'm just greatful to Tony Black/Johnny Busca in Holland who is another
Simmons fanatic and who decided not to interfere when I told him I was
bidding. He has an SDS-3 BTW...

I have another "drummer" I found there at a very decent price indeed;
http://electronic-obsession.se/studio/epu/epu.html Same thing there,
slightly more expensive but weird that it didn't cost more. And yes -
cheeeeeeesy is the word for the sound. Love it!

superwolle:

Like me of your SDS-3 then. ;)

Very much so... NOT! Don't remember, but I think he called it Simmons in the
description since it says Simmons on the unit itself. But as I recall it, a
lousy picture (if any) and two lines of "info". The PSU was shaken out of
place and had bounced around inside, but managed to fix it even with the
old PSU and there was no other harm done - magically...

> Was it before Ebay broke through the magic barrier of 1000 members?

Oh no, as mention, two years ago approx... I had already bought a lot of
stuff there and was probably over 100 feedback points myself. But these days
the gear tend to go more expensive I guess...

> Who was the former owner? Do you know
> anything about its history?

Cannot remember his name, but I think he told me he picked it up at a local
2nd hand dealer and thought it was nothing special. I have had help from
this list and google to find out two things;
* Dave Simmons bought one (1!) unit called the SDS-2
* Stephen Morris of Joy Division/New Order used to own one but hated it. ;)
There are some indications that he sold or dumped it while on a german tour.

That's about it... *piouuuuuw*, *fwonk*

Honestly: The seller of the SDS3 just told me he wanted to give it to
the bulk garbage. So this was in fact a last-minute deal
