  hello there

Last week in London I was pasing what used to be argent's music and
they had thrown out a load of dusty, bent stuff. in amongst it were two
  ADT's.

Now, I used to have one of these years back and it was an incredible
open ended flexible bit of kit [way ahead of anything now as a stand
alone trigger unit - midi layering, cross fades, chords, delays,
sequencing you name it]. So I tucked both of em under my arm and went
home with them..... [I didn't have room for the SDS 2000]

However: one's [seemingly] dead and the other simply says Patch 01 and
flashes away at me. Opening them up, nothing obviously wrong, though
the batteries are surely no good any more....

ANY THOUGHTS??? these would be great if I could get them up and running

  cheers
  Al

Re: [Simmons Drums] ADT

2005-05-31 by Phil Murray

Hi all,

Just picked up my 2nd and 3rd SDX's at the weekend, one working, one
not. The non-working one is apparently ex-Howard Jones, which joins
my ex-Brian Bennett (The Shadows) machine.

I was just wondering if 1) anyone owns more than 3 SDX's (!) and if
anyone else out there knew any of the history of the Simmons kit
they now own ?

And on the other point, I take the hint Patrice ! Let me know your
address (lost your email :-( ) and I'll get a CD with the ADT
schematics sent over.

Phil.

Re: [Simmons Drums] ADT

I am a poor boy, I only have two.
I had also been thinking about bidding on these (the ones from
Maidenhead, right?). But I got my second one two days before for
400EURO 12 ZI pads included from German Ebay and picked it up 60km
away ;-)
My first SDX (#019) I picked up in Hamburg from the third owner, it
was originally owned by Simmons product manager Sibi Siebert from my
home town Leverkusen/Germany. I accidently got him to know when buying
an SDSV from Ebay. He still (or again after the Simmons disaster) has
a distribution of acoustic drums and parts. His SDX #019 was the
showroom kit on the Frankfurt music exibition in 1987.

The second (#170) was originally owned by a turkish pop band (please
don't ask me for the name). The brain needs some service but I
contacted Sibi, he gave me the contact to the former Simmons service
point which is 20 minutes by car from me.

Cool! =) Famous gear is cool but often comes in a rotten physical
condition...

Sure! My SDS-2 is ex Joy Division/New Order (since there is only one), but
the rest I have no idea about. But to top this I can mention my EPU that was
hand built for Tangerine Dream and also only exists in one copy...

Re: [Simmons Drums] ADT

if i tried for 3 sdx's the wife would throw me out but three is a good number (3 motorbikes 3 mountainbikes etc)
anyway my first sdx belonged to gil gilson ex squeeze and now in jools holland big band
second machine does not have any history but came with orifinal discs manual and the rack and a few spares too so seemed a good idea
both are maxed out with ram and hardrives

got me thinking it time to play them as i've working solid for the past month

oh and big props to tangerine dream

Yes, the Maidenhead ones, very surprised at the price. Both in
physically good condition (I know what you mean Jesper about some of
the kit with history being in a mess !) but "Thumper" (ex-Howard
Jones) doesn't boot...another one for the workshop...

Well done in getting your 2nd one, and at a great price. I do
wonder how many of them are still in existence...

Fortunately I have a VERY understanding girlfriend...!!
