SDS7 schematics (was: Simmons SDS2000)

SDS7 schematics (was: Simmons SDS2000)

2005-02-23 by Hauke Harm

Paul!

I gave the scan of the schematics to the guy who is trying to repair my SDS7 and he started to laugh :o) All that has been typed in that document is a help, but the "drawings" are a joke because of the bad scan... it would be just great if that guy who sent the schematics to you would do a better scan.

Besides: Do you use a special IC or chip on your MIDI2SDSII ? I gave your schematics to "my soldering-guy" and he said that it is no problem building it but he would need a chip with the software on it?!?! I have absolutely no idea, could I please have your advice/answer? Thank you very much!!!

Bye
Hauke

we have the service guide on the webpage, though its not a very high res scan
(the schematic is unreadable).
It has a list of problem and cures, try that first.

In the meantime, whoever sent me this, can I have a high res version of this?

Paul

I'm sure we can get a better version.

I don't have any of the chips left. the chip itself is an Atmel Microcontroller,
ATMEGA8-16AI, which is a fairly standard part.

Yes, what you buy from Paul is the board itself and the programmed chip. If
you're lucky, the one you're getting is programmed correctly too. (sorry
Paul, couldn't resist) I received a bad one by mistake but that is sorted
now...

While on the subject, will the new version have a trim pot for the maximum
value or is it just either 5 or 10 as maximum? For all us SDS-V-lovers a max
at 7 would be veeeeeery nice!

Hi Jesper!

Well, I'm not very into programmed chips... Paul allready told me that I could build that Interface myself so I hope he doesn't mind that you gave me that hint. Paul put the schematics for download on his site so there shouldn't be a problem with copyright or so when building the interface myself. if so, please, Paul, shout at me!

The chip that I have to buy for that is already programmed, did I get that right? Can I buy such a chip in any good sorted electronic-shop?

What is taht you are writing about the "5" and "10" and "7"? Is that the "volume" the trigger comes out... different velocitys?

Thanks, Jesper!

The chip - yes, the program - no...

Yes! The version I have gives you +5 volts on the outputs at full key
velocity. But the SDS-V wants 7 for it to perform all the way with extra
crunch and better volume... SDS-7 wants 10 if I remember correctly.

It will have an adjustable upper and lower voltage.

Nope, you can build it if you want, I don't mind.

You can, RS, Farnell and Digikey stock them, *BUT* they are blank, and I'm
not willing to pass out my code.

The current one the maximum voltage out (with max velocity) is 5V, the SDS-V
needs 7V to get maximum level.

Like two pots for minimum and maximum? Cool then!

Hi Paul!

I can understand that you don't want to give your code away... so I will have to wait desperately until you offer the boxes :-(
;-)

Thanks anyway!
