the one i have has midi and works great. it's hard to believe they would have SDS1000's in the world with MIDI jacks but no midi. are you one the wrong midi channel? it defaults to channel 1. also, it only plays sounds on keys 60, 62, 64, 66, 68 PS, i found instructions for adding midi to a 1000: don't remember where i got these, i never did the mod myself. Install the following parts: R5, R6, R7 - 220R resistors R17 - 390K resistor R18, R19, R20 - 8M2 resistors R177, R182, R250, R251, R252 - 270K resistors R246 - 220K resistor R262, R263, R264, R265 - 1K0 resistors R266, R267, R268, R269 - 2K2 resistors C9, C10, C11, C12 - 1n0 capacitors C30, C44, C58, C78 - 0.1uF capacitors D42, D43, D44 - each 3 x 1N4148 diodes in series (mount two sticking vertically out of the board and one across the top) D54, D64, D65, D66, D67, D68 - 1N4148 diodes D57 - BAT85 schottky diode IC6 - 74LS14 hex inverter IC7 - 4N28 optoisolator IC16 - LM324 quad opamp P11, P12 - 8 pin DIN sockets, pcb mounting L1 - wire link in 0v position L2 - wire link in +5v position There is also a 470R resistor suggested between pins 4 and 14 on IC6. There was a space on the circuit board for mine, but on some versions you may have to solder the resistor on top of the chip. z NEW ALLIANCE EAST!!!! -------------------------------------- New Alliance East - Mastering New Alliance East - Facebook X :::: B :::: S ________________________________ From: brian walker <brian1075us@...> To: "Simmons_Drums@...m" <Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 24, 2013 1:38 PM Subject: Re: [Simmons Drums] Re: Simmons SDS 1000 & MTM Hi I have an SDS1000 and a SDS1000m They both have a full set of 5 pin DIN sockets and working MIDI I have seen a SDS1000 without the sockets so NO MIDI I have also seen a SDS1000m with a full set of 5 pin DIN sockets but with NO MIDI functions I am still trying to figure it out If it has a 5 pin DIN socket plug a MIDI lead into it and see what you get The results will be: - It works fine It does not work in which case: - It is NOT MIDI capable OR It is MIDI capable but is not working properly Hopefully that covers all eventualities Brian ________________________________ From: HH <grandedoot@...> To: Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com Sent: Tuesday, 23 April 2013, 23:50 Subject: [Simmons Drums] Re: Simmons SDS 1000 & MTM Thanks Nick, How the H do you know if it has a midi or not? c --- In Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com, Nick Zampiello <newallianceeast@...> wrote: > > your SDS1000 doesn't have midi? > > many do and if you get one with midi you don't need an MTM> > > z > > >  > NEW ALLIANCE EAST!!!! > > -------------------------------------- > > > New Alliance East - Mastering > > New Alliance East - Facebook > > X :::: B :::: S > > > > > ________________________________ > From: HH <grandedoot@...> > To: Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com > Sent: Tuesday, April 23, 2013 10:58 AM > Subject: [Simmons Drums] Simmons SDS 1000 & MTM > > > >  > Hello again! > > I have a SDS 1000 & am wondering if a MTM system would work with it? The SDS is nice, but I have visions from the 80's when I would go to a keyboard store & they had either the SDX (or the MTM) that could be played & it was AMAZING! > > If the MTM adds a ton of incredible sounds to the SDS 1000, I suppose, I'm super curious to know. > > Thanks guys & gals!
