Well that sounds like my kind of solution Gordon. There are signs of leakage from the battery but its not serious. I have so far lifted off the cover cap, but I can't seem to see how to get the battery out. It is shrouded in a plastic tube. Any help would be apreciated. On the backlit display issue I think I have found http://www.maplin.co.uk/supertwist-alphanumeric-lcd-modules-36389 something that seems to fit the bill. Will I need to cut the ribbon cable and re-solder? thanks in advance. --- In Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com, "gordonjcp" <gordon@...> wrote: > > > > --- In Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com, "WT" <waveterm@> wrote: > > > > My solution is to replace the old Nicad battery with a standard Lithium cell > > CR-2032. > > > > You will need to install one 1N4148 diode in series with the + side of the > > CR2032 to stop the charging voltage otherwise the CR2032 might explode!!! > > > > WT > > Why not just replace the NiCad with a NiMH?
