Re: [Simmons Drums] Clapping heaven

Just want to say, that there are 2 internal pots. Very exiting is "resonance". There is also "noise volume". Open them beasts up and tweak, it is sure an experience and fun!

  Hi list!

Two months ago I had the cealing window in my studio changed. This meant
unhooking a lot of gear and afterwards plenty of cleaning. Now almost
  everything is back in place...

Today it was time to test the drum synts. I made a simple two bar loop
with four different triggers in Cubase (basically bass, snare, hihat and
cymbal (at least in theory)), fed the triggers to the first machine and
the output(s) to the mixer. When one proved OK I moved on and soon
arrived in my "corner or clappers". This was the first time I really
A-B-tested the two first versions of the Clap Trap (along with E-H Clap
Track and Crash Pad). A sudden mayhem of claps and crashes appeared but
with some tweaking I arrived at this conclusion:
I don't think that mark 1 and mark 2 are identical (even without the
humanizer) or it's just my machines. I find mark 1 rougher, courser and,
well, meaner. Mark 2 is just as good but different. A little more
well-behaved maybe. I ended up tweaking them so that the older brother
played a classic disco clap ensemble while the younger sibling added
finger snaps. The humanizer sure is good for finger snap sounds!

Just wanted to share this Sunday experience. :D

And while at it: That's one expensive disco clap:

p.s. Thomas, the Syndrum pedal assembly works great with the 478. Lovely
with the sustain kill switch! d.s.
