Hey Jesper, I have both versions of the DS-4, black and blue/greenish and both have the same short sound for the Snare. The difference when you use the sustain slider is very subtle. The best way to get around this is to use the individual outs or cascade two channels. The cool thing on the DS-4 Custom is, that by pulling up the volume knobs you can cascade up to four channels for total madness :-) But I always wanted to check the Snare noise source and maybe get it a bit longer for sure...never done it though. I bought a DS-2 ProMuzer at Vemia. http://www.spheremusic.com/userimages/Img8450.jpg It's the little brother of the classic DS-4. It's behaving a bit strange I wanted to see if anyone here could share a light on how it's suppose to behave. There is one triggering issue I'm addressing now (I've spoken to Peter F at Vemia first) but I want to know if the snare setting of the second channel really should sound as it does. Both channels have the standard controls for drum synth of this age, tune, bend etc. But channel one has a dedicated cymbal switch and channel two has a snare switch. The cymbal sounds "cymbalic" enough, but the snare sounds is very short and more electric than electronic. Or simply just odd and the controls that should have effect doesn't seem to have any. I see that the DS-4 http://www.spheremusic.com/userimages/Img84453.jpg have the same snare and cymbals switches so I thought I'd check with owners. I've peeked on the inside and there are as much wires as there are components. Plenty of trimpots but I rather not touch any before hearing your views first. I've cancelled the idea of finding a service manual or schematic, but if you want to crush that illusion, feel free to do so! :D -- electronically yours, jesper - -- --- ---- ----- ---- --- -- - www.electronic-obsession.se ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
