Surely the overall volume (after you have sorted out the playing and dynamics) is totally dependant on what amps/speakers you are using, and how powerful they are. To compete with acoustic drums and loud guitar amps you need serious power with simmons drums as they are more full range as compared to the mostly mids guitars. something along the lines of a 4-500 watt amp into 2 X 15' + horn speaker, self powered equivalent.
