Update 2:

It was "just" bad contacts inside. The socketed connector for the LCD 
was dirty. So the MTM probably did what I told it to, but it didn't show 
up in the display!

Another Q for the other owners. In this unit R37 has been lifted at one 
end. is this a known mod, a factory update or similar? Any ideas?
