I don't follow you entirely, but I'd get a cheap midi to trig-converter 
on Ebay instead of fiddling around with stuff like that.
With a converter you can use the synth input instead and don't risk 
blowing any pad input circuits etc.

I seldom use pads for my SDS-7. I have a bunch of converters that I use 
and one day I'll modify my midi2sds2 to accept the required voltages 
too. It's just a question of time though...
