Vintage Simmons Drums (UK) Users Group

A friend gave me a sdsv that was left in his apt. when he moved in.  
I figured out what it was (just the brain of the set) because i'm a 
drummer and he's a guitarist. but it's a bit before my time, so I've 
never seen another before.  I was just wondering if anyone had any 
clue where a picture of one including the pads exists.  Also why do 
the pads connect with XLR plugs when all the new machines use 2 
conductor 1/4" connectors.  Do the pads use all 3 conductors?  or 
can you rewire a cable to allow you to plug a newer pad or trigger 
into the module.  Any help whatsoever is greatly appreciated.  I've 
always wanted to get some electronic options out of my acoustic drum 
set, so if this sdsv and some triggers will work that'll be awesome.
